John Phillips Nicole Kidman, Emma Watson, and Anne Hathaway as UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassadors. That's nice BUT how about Zoe Saldana, Lupita Nyong'o, Michelle Rodriguez, etc. I would love to see some representation of minorities as UN Women Ambassadors.Ver tradução

When María Alejandra was five years old, the Colombian Army killed her parents who were guerilla fighters. The guerilla took her in and made the orphan a child soldier. “War was all I knew then,” she says. Today, the young woman has her own family, she was able to finish high school, has written a book about her experience and wants to build peace in her country. After five years of war in Syria, too many have become used to the horrible news and have lost their interest. Syrians can’t. Listen to the voices of ‪#‎womenofsyria‬: http://ow.ly/8MCU300vj7l

“By writing this book I wanted to demonstrate that even if you've gone through painful experiences in your life, you shouldn't be defined by those experiences,” said Evelyn Amony at the launch of her new memoir ‪#‎IAmEvelyn‬. The book recounts her experiences being abducted by the LRA as a child and forced to marry Joseph Kony, her recapture, her role in the Juba Peace Talks and her current work as a women’s rights defender with Women’s Advocacy Network in Uganda. “You can still do a lot to change the lives of others,” she said, and her life proves that is true. http://ow.ly/5wWy301kXc8

Marie Albt that's what a real hero looks like, not a guy who looks tough, is emotionless and wears a gun. It's about resilience, emotion, generosity. All the best to Ms Amony Ver tradução
“Gender inequality remains the most pervasive form of inequality around the world,” our Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said during a side event of the UN High-Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS. “Women and girls face extraordinary, and often intersecting, forms of discrimination. This is especially true for women living with HIV, migrants and refugee women, adolescent girls, women who use drugs or are sex workers, and lesbian, bisexual and transgender women and men. This is why in our work we must always aim to reach the last woman.” We are very happy about the bold commitments on gender equality that have been adopted at this meeting.
